The Red Star Bar & Grill Coming to Nine East 33rd

Armada Hoffler Properties and Beatty Development Group today announced the signing of The Red Star Bar & Grill to Nine East 33rd, the exciting new student-centered development located at the corner of St. Paul and 33rd Streets in Charles Village. The Red Star is tentatively scheduled to open in Summer 2017 and will join the recently opened Bird in Hand, honeygrow, and CVS Pharmacy, as well as the previously announced Race Pace Bicycles, PekoPeko Ramen and Towson Hot Bagels.

“We look forward to welcoming yet another trendy eatery at Nine East 33rd which will likely become a gathering place for JHU students,” commented Tony Nero, President of Development at Armada Hoffler Properties. “We feel The Red Star Bar & Grill will not only complement the dining options currently available, but will also enhance the development’s attractiveness to potential residents and the broader Charles Village neighborhood.”

Nine East 33rd will be the second location for The Red Star Bar & Grill, already a popular destination in Fells Point. The 5,770 square foot restaurant and pub will offer a wide variety of classic offerings, including gourmet pizza, sandwiches and burgers, plus a lengthy and creative drink menu, as well as continuing to serve up one of the best brunches in all of Baltimore.

“Johns Hopkins is one of the largest customers at our Fells Point location and with the opening of Nine East 33rd, we felt that this was a great opportunity to expand – the location and timing was just perfect,” said Larry Silverstein, co-owner of the Red Star. “We look forward to being a part of the redevelopment and we’re excited to join the Charles Village community.”

“The inclusion of Baltimore-area staples like the Red Star offers a local element to Nine East 33rd that often goes missing in large developments,” said Michael Beatty, President of Beatty Development Group. “Adding well-known local favorites to Nine East 33rd simultaneously elevates the profile of the whole project and keeps it grounded with a taste of what makes Baltimore unique.”

Matthew Stein, MSC University Vice President & Director, represented the landlord during the transaction and is the exclusive leasing representative at Nine East 33rd.
