Baltimore Penn Station
Built in 1911, Baltimore Penn Station has long served as the city’s primary transportation hub – today, more than three million Amtrak and MARC passengers move through the station each year. As a co-development lead, the Beatty team is spearheading a bold reimagining of the historic station and a collection of surrounding underutilized and vacant properties into a nearly 10-acre mixed-use, transit-oriented development with more than three million square feet of new office, retail, residential, and hotel uses.
As the centerpiece for this anticipated future development, the Beatty team, working closely with Amtrak, is currently overseeing the restoration of Penn Station to a much-needed state of good repair by making vital core and shell improvements to polish the station’s appearance and increase overall functionality. Through adaptive reuse, the development team will respect the historical character of Penn Station while introducing modern sensibility.
Located at the transition of Baltimore’s celebrated cultural center and the rapidly developing neighborhoods to the north, a faithfully restored and repurposed Penn Station will better connect with the surrounding neighborhoods while providing the station with its own unique sense of place.
